4777 Marsh Lioness BW
This lioness was the leader of the Marsh Pride, which in my way of thinking controlled a very prime patch of real estate where many animals had to come in to the water to drink. It was a small pride, with another healthy adult lioness who may have been her sister, a very old and failing lioness who may have been her mother, a young tom and a couple of teen cubs. This girl was very large and not very pretty, but she must have been one bad honda to effectively keep the marsh territory with so little help. We first encountered them in the heat of the late afternoon and they were miserable with flies. They were not a happy lot, and my heart kind of reached out to them.
